During a press conference today, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders refused to say that North Korea is an adversary of the United States.

A reporter asked her if Donald Trump supports United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s statement that “the U.S. is not North Korea’s enemy.”

Huckabee Sanders responded, “I think in some ways they get to decide by the actions that they take. If they want to stop their nuclear program, stop the games, stop the missiles, stop the aggression, then I think we may be able to find ways to move forward.”

The statement is opposite of the U.S.’ policy on North Korea, which prior administrations have treated as a hostile enemy.

North Korea has been conducting several missile tests, boasting that the country has a missile that can reach as far as Chicago, Illinois.

United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley tweeted that she was done talking about North Korea, and Donald Trump told reporters that North Korea will be handled.

However, Huckabee Sanders’ and Tillerson’s comments brings into question whether Trump’s way of handling North Korea is to treat them as a friend of the United States; something which no other administration has done.
